NYSC; How to Apply for NYSC Maternity Leave


The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is now taking the case of Maternity leave seriously and it’s not easy as it used to be.
However, if you want to apply for the maternity leave and don’t want to put yourself into trouble resulting in service extension, then you should do it this way.

The first thing you should do even before writing the letter for the maternity leave is to get close to your CDS club president not necessary close like bubby but let them know your situation and what you want to do, by doing these they will get you covered from their own side, so you will be cleared for CDS even when you are not around.
Another people you should meet with is your General CLO and your Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) CLO, let them know your plans and beg them to help you with clearance.

Lastly applying for NYSC maternity leave as to be done through your local government inspector, you have a write a letter and apply for it formally. Some state will want you to come back for the three-month maternity leave after the service year but it’s unusual for that to happen.
To apply for NYSC maternity leave follow these format:

The State Coordinator,

Through:
The Zonal Inspector,
(Name of the zone)
Your PPA (Principal, etc. with stamp

  APPLICATION FOR MATERNITY LEAVE
I ……………………….. With the state code ……….. Which to apply for NYSC maternity leave.
I will glad if my maternity leave is highly considered.

Note: This letter should be submitted to your local Government Inspector (LGI) and mind you if the letter is not addressed properly, it will not be accepted. For more info read the NYSC bye-laws
